This 38-mile byway passes through the Uinta National Forest from Nephi to the city of Payson and looks out on the east face of beautiful Mount Nebo. Climbing to an elevation of over 9,000 feet, it offers breathtaking views from several overlooks.
Amenities
Nearby campgrounds, trail-heads en route (including a couple that reach all the way to the summit of majestic Mount Nebo), and horseback riding areas allow for an extended experience in the awe-inspiring wilderness. Among the many beautiful views are those of Devil’s Kitchen Geologic Interest Site (a sandstone amphitheater of a brilliant red hue) and an amazing formation of salt pillars right off of State Road 132. Due to heavy snow, the Nebo Scenic Loop closes in the winter from late October through June or July.
