Mayor and City Council


The Mayor and City Council provide the policy direction and approve ordinances for Nephi City.  The Council is made up of 6 elected members, including the Mayor.  The Mayor's position and two Council Members are elected every 4 years and the remaining three Council Members are elected every four years but offset by 2 years from the election of the previous set.  The powers and duties of the Mayor and Council Members are found in Title 1, Chapter 5 of the Nephi Municipal Code


Nephi City is accepting applications to fill an at-large vacancy on the City Council. The term of office for this appointment is through 12:00 noon on the first Monday of January 2024. Those interested in being appointed to fill the vacancy must meet the Requirements for Office outlined below and shall submit a complete and notarized application to the Nephi City Recorder no later than Monday, January 3, 2022, at 5:30 pm. 

Applicants to fill this vacancy will be interviewed by the Mayor and City Council in an open public meeting of the City Council to be held at 6:00 pm on January 11, 2022, at the City Council Chambers located at 21 East 100 North. Nephi, UT. It is anticipated that the Mayor and Council will then select an applicant to fill the vacancy on Tuesday, January 18, 2022.

City Council meetings are held on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. at Nephi City Hall, 21 East 100 North in the City Council Chamber.

City Council work sessions are scheduled as needed.

Agendas for City Council meetings will be posted here, and at the administrative offices at least 24 hours in advance of each meeting.
